October ride is cancelled.

In this difficult time, we are all focused on supporting our community and getting through this together. Its probably no surprise that we have cancelled the October ride. We will share more when the immediate needs of our communities are addressed and people are safe, and at that point we'd love to join as a community together rebuilding our trails. Until then, stay safe, stay off the trails, support each other, and lets get through this together.

Test and Tune with Cane Creek
Oct

Test and Tune with Cane Creek

Cane Creek is offering a test & tune clinic for the women of Dirt Skrrts.

Many times when we purchase a bike, we walk out the door without knowledge or understanding of the suspension that is on the bike. Is it set for us? More than we need? Less than we need?  Much of how suspension is set is based on rider weight, riding style, riding preferences and where you ride. Also, no one tells us that forks and rear shocks need to be tuned and oil needs to be changed, just like the oil in our cars. Hence, we may be ruining our very expensive products without being aware.

In this clinic, each participant will be paired with one suspension expert from Cane Creek. They will check your sag set-up and then have you ride a specific section of trail multiple times, while changing your suspension settings each go around. The goal is to dial in your suspension so that you feel like you are riding a whole new rig and you know how to adjust things on your own in the future.

Cane Creek is offering sessions at 9:30–10:45 am and 11 am–12:15 pm with six spots in each session.

Registration opens Monday, September 16 at 7pm! This event is open to all women.

Trail Work Day | Pisgah Area SORBA

Join Dirt Skrrts at a trail work day with Pisgah Area SORBA!

Dirt Skrrts and Pisgah Area SORBA will be doing some much needed work on the Fletcher Creek trail in North Mills River, which is accessed by many user groups. We will be doing a mix of drain clearing, brushing, and clean-up as needed. Thank you for the help.

What to Bring
Required: Long pants, boots that cover your ankles, gloves, water, lunch, snacks, hardhat (bike helmets DO NOT count, but climbing helmets do), safety glasses (sunglasses DO count). Note: Hardhats, gloves and safety glasses can be provided if needed.

When
Saturday, February 24 from 10am - 3pm

Where:
We’re meeting at the Trace Ridge trailhead. We will shuttle in 2–3 vehicles down to the Reservoir. How to get there? Just before you reach the North Mills Rec area campground, hang a right onto FR 5000. There's a gate, and it's not well-signed. After a couple miles, you'll reach the Wash Creek Horse Camp and a fork in the road. There is limited parking here, and it might be busy enough to make the next turn difficult to see. Keep left and cross the stream. You'll drive past a few roadside campsites before you reach the Trace Ridge trailhead/parking area.

How to Register
Sign ups are limited to 20 volunteers. If, for some reason, you can't make the trail day after RSVP'ing, please delete your name to allow others an opportunity to come out in your place. If you cancel for a non-emergency reason within 48 hours of the event, we request you donate $10 to Pisgah Area SORBA by clicking here. You can make changes to your registration by following the registration link below.

Building Resilience On and Off the Bike

Learn from a professional, licensed counselor on ways to build resiliency, conquer your fears, and step out of your comfort zone on the trails.

Are you wanting to feel more confident and less afraid on your bike?  During this event, we will learn ways to build resilience so you can find more joy and ride features that you can’t seem to try even though you have the skills.  We will do this by learning ways to regulate the central nervous system, work the edges of your comfort zone to improve your overall riding, practice mindfulness and presence on and off your bike, and assess risk without letting old stories (aka previous crashes, insecurities, etc.) take over your ride.

Sara Hunter is a PMBIA Level 1 Mountain Bike Instructor and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC).  Sara has a counseling practice in Asheville in which she utilizes Adventure Therapy via mountain biking to support clients who are feeling stuck in complex trauma and anxiety.  Sara also supports mountain bikers through confidence coaching sessions on specific sections of trail that they continue to struggle with due to fear.

Registration and RSVP go live Tuesday, January 9 at 7 pm. This ride is open to all women.
